WHO IS TCSD CARES?

TCSD Cares is ‘the giving arm’ of the Triathlon Club of San Diego.  The mission of TCSD Cares is to support athletes with special needs in the California community through grants, gifts or other resources, and to provide scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students of 4-year California Universities who are involved in athletics and community services.

TCSD Cares is a registered non-profit organization.

HISTORY

TCSD Cares was the brainchild of former Triathlon Club of San Diego President Brian Long:

"TCSD Cares became a thought when I was approached by a member who was trying to figure out a way to help a fellow member. This member was very deserving of the help and still is. However, our corporation by-laws prevent the club from giving money directly to a member. So while my first thought was that this member was VERY deserving of a "grant", TCSD, is unable to provide it. My next thought was the irony that members of TCSD provide tens of thousands of dollars to various charities every year, yet we had not one discretionary dollar of our own. So TCSD Cares was hatched.”

WHO HAVE WE HELPED?

During its first year of existence, TCSD Cares provided individual help to multiple TCSD members, as well as administering and awarding the Dave Martin Award. Individual stories will be posted in this space soon so stay tuned!
